1. Call to Order and Roll Call

  • Chairman Tiffany King called the meeting to order.
  • A quorum was confirmed.

3. Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Training Session

Regarding Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Board reviewed its role as a citizen advisory board to City Council and City staff.
  • Discussion topics included:
    • Quorum requirement of four members
    • Officer elections timing
    • Status of the board as an advisory body
    • Ordinance updates reflecting board membership size

4. Approval of Minutes (August 2, 2022)

  • Motion to approve made by Barry Brafman.
  • Seconded by Delleez Dennis.
  • Vote:
    • Ayes: King, Brafman, Harris, Dennis, Sine
    • Nays: None
  • Motion carried unanimously.

5. Celebrate Fate

Presentation by Spencer Foster, Assistant to City Manager

  • Event scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 5:00–8:00 p.m.
  • Location: Fate City Hall and Robert Smith Family Park
  • Sponsors: 33 totaling $33,000; 5 in-kind sponsors
  • Vendors: 38 registered
    • Craft vendors: 20
    • Food vendors: 5
    • Non-profits: 13
  • Activities included fireworks, live band, bounce houses, magician, pickleball activities, basketball tournament, health services, educational exhibits, and community organizations.

  • Swag bag preparation
  • Shirt order quantities and sizing

6. Fate Station Park

Presentation by Spencer Foster

  • Playground purchase approved by City Council in August.
  • Grant acceptance scheduled for September 19, 2022.
  • Construction on surrounding properties underway.

7. Joe Burger Park and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

  • Play structure completed with safety audit

8. Park Master Plan
