1. Call to Order and Roll Call

• Vice-chairman Barry Brafman called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
• A quorum was confirmed.

Board Members Present:

• Tiffany King
• Kimber Patterson

Board Members Absent:

• Jake Jacobson, Chairman
• Tonya Megyesi
• Courtney Clanton
• Delleez Dennis

City of Fate Staff Present:

• Steve Gilbert, Director of Community Services and Building Safety
• Jessica Larson, Assistant to City Manager
• Samantha Harris, Deputy City Secretary

2. Citizen Comments

• No citizens were present wishing to speak.

3. Approval of Minutes (April 5, 2022 Meeting)

• Motion to approve the April 5, 2022 meeting minutes made by Board Member Patterson.
• Motion seconded by Vice-chairman Brafman.
• Vote:
  • Ayes: Brafman, Hebert, Harris, King, Patterson
  • Nays: None
• Motion carried unanimously.

4. Great American Cleanup

• Presentation given by Jessica Larson, Assistant to City Manager.
• Reported items:
  • 97 volunteers attended (137 signed up)
  • 7 staff members participated
  • 16 locations were cleaned
  • Blood drive: 8 participants, 24 units collected
• Board discussion topics included:
  • Number of bags collected
  • Whether a map of cleaned areas exists

5. Fate Station Park

• Update provided by Steve Gilbert, Director of Community Services and Building Safety.
• Reported items:
  • Final walk and acceptance had not yet occurred
  • Grass installation complete
  • Electrical components still back ordered
  • Construction on surrounding properties had begun
• Board discussion included:
  • Comments on park appearance
  • Property adjacent to the promenade

6. Joe Burger Park

• Update provided by Steve Gilbert, Director of Community Services and Building Safety.
• Reported items:
  • Basketball court backboards being installed
  • Approximately half of the concrete parking lot poured
  • Pond holding water
• Board discussion topics included:
  • Possibility of a fountain in the pond
  • Whether fencing would be installed around the pond

7. Park Master Plan

• Presentation given by Xie Tracz of Parkhill.
• Presentation topics included:
  • Parks and trails master planning overview
  • Purpose of the City of Fate Parks & Trails Master Plan
  • Plan content, project approach, and project schedule
  • Master plan goals, including improving access to public park spaces
• Board discussion topics included:
  • Additional connectivity opportunities, including safe crossings
  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Department requirements
  • Park accessibility and distribution
  • Survey outreach to residents
  • Facilities inventory and park typologies
• Park typologies discussed:
  • Mini and pocket parks (1 acre or less)
  • Neighborhood parks (5–10 acres)
  • Community parks (25+ acres)
  • HOA amenity parks (typically 1 acre or less)
• Trail typologies discussed:
  • Off-street trails
  • Roadside trails
  • Veloweb trails
