Call to Order and Roll Call

  • The meeting was called to order at 6:01 p.m. by Chairman Tiffany King.
  • A quorum was confirmed.

Approval of Minutes (May 2, 2023)

  • Motion to approve the minutes of the May 2, 2023 meeting was made by Board Member Barry Brafman.
  • The motion was seconded by Board Member Virginia Harris.
  • Vote:
    • Ayes: Chairman King; Board Members Brafman, Harris, Sine
    • Nays: None
  • The motion carried unanimously.

Fate Station Park Update

  • Steve Gilbert provided a presentation that included:
    • Project completion expected soon
    • Playground location was shifted away from proximity to the restaurant
    • Final acceptance was still pending
    • A letter from the city attorney was prepared if needed
    • Landscaping touch-ups were ongoing

Purchase of Restrooms for Fate Station Park

  • Steve Gilbert presented information regarding restroom facilities, including:
    • Funding was earmarked in 2018
    • Concrete precast buildings were proposed for durability

City Secretary’s Note

  • Board Member Michelle Dominique arrived at 6:09 p.m.

Board Discussion Topics

  • Handicap accessibility
  • Required pad size
  • Use of park development fund
  • Inclusion of changing stations
  • Inclusion of a drinking water area
  • Preference for an option with two family restrooms
  • Color options consistent with a train depot theme

Joe Burger Park Update

  • Steve Gilbert presented an update that included:
    • Recommendation for a shade structure instead of umbrellas
    • Tennis and pickleball courts were set up

  • Estimated shade structure cost of $50,000 or more
  • Consideration of transplanting larger trees
  • Relative affordability of trees
