Call to Order and Roll Call

Approval of Minutes (November 15, 2022)

  • Motion: Board Member Brafman moved to approve the minutes of the November 15, 2022 meeting.
  • Second: Board Member Harris.
  • Vote:
    • Ayes: Patterson, Brafman, Harris, Sine
    • Nays: None
  • Result: Motion carried unanimously.

Fate Station Park

  • A presentation was provided by Ashley Martin, Community Services Coordinator.
  • Topics presented:
    • Grant for matching funds was accepted in September.
    • Purchase order was sent to Kraftsman in October.
    • Playground equipment manufacturing timeline of 17–20 weeks; project at 8 weeks at the time of the meeting.
    • Parking lot lights installed and operational.
    • Construction on surrounding properties ongoing.

Joe Burger Park

  • A presentation was provided by Ashley Martin, Community Services Coordinator.
  • Topics presented:
    • Final walk scheduled for December 7, 2022.
    • Final inspection for the TPWD grant to occur after acceptance.
    • Grant reimbursement of $150,000 to be submitted to TPWD following final inspection.
  • Board discussion topics:
    • Timing of removal of large project signs.
    • Bathroom door left propped open due to contractor inability to reset the lock.

Christmas Tree Lighting

  • A presentation was provided by Ashley Martin, Community Services Coordinator.
  • Event details:
    • Held Friday, December 2, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    • 1,400 burgers served by In-N-Out.
    • 1,056 s’mores bags distributed.
    • 1,000 cookies distributed.
    • 546 cups of hot chocolate served.
    • 780 candy canes distributed.
    • 32 volunteers participated.
  • Board discussion topic:
    • Potential locations for future events to accommodate increased attendance.

Park Project List

  • A presentation was provided by Steve Gilbert, Director of Community Services and Building Safety.
  • Reported fund balances:
    • 710 Parks Fund: $29,596.64
    • 711 District A: $372,911.21
    • 712 District B: $24,219.42
    • 713 District C: $55,830.71
    • 714 Community: $85,392.98
  • The 714 Community fund balance was reported as net of a $551,597.15 encumbrance for playground equipment.
  • Board discussion topics:
    • Joe Burger Park acreage (19 acres).
    • Potential uses of available funds.
    • Benches around ponds at Joe Burger Park.
    • Trail work at Joe Burger Park.
    • BMX bike track.
