Call to Order and Roll Call

  • The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board Member Tiffany King.
  • A quorum was confirmed, and roll call was conducted.

Board Members Present:

  • Tiffany King
  • Michelle Dominique
  • Mayowa Ijagbemi
  • Barry Brafman
  • Ryan Strobel
  • Gregg Rauwolf

Board Members Absent:

  • Virginia Harris

City Staff Present:

  • Steve Gilbert, Director of Community Services and Building Safety
  • Ashley Martin, Community Services Coordinator
  • Robert Highfield, Associate Planner
  • Samantha Harris, Deputy City Secretary

Election of Officers — Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

Chairman

  • Michelle Dominique nominated Tiffany King.
  • There were no other nominations.
  • Vote: Tiffany King received 6 votes and was elected Chairman.

Vice-Chairman

  • Tiffany King nominated Michelle Dominique.
  • Michelle Dominique nominated Barry Brafman.
  • There were no other nominations.
  • Vote Results:
    • Barry Brafman: 4 votes
    • Michelle Dominique: 2 votes
  • Barry Brafman was elected Vice-Chairman.

Citizen Comments

  • Megan Shutt, 412 Sugarberry Lane, spoke regarding the addition and benefits of adding a skatepark in the city.

Approval of Minutes — July 2, 2024 Meeting

  • Michelle Dominique moved to approve the minutes from the July 2, 2024 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting.
  • Mayowa Ijagbemi seconded the motion.
  • Vote:
    • Ayes: Chairman King; Board Members Dominique, Ijagbemi, Strobel, and Rauwolf
    • Nays: Board Member Brafman
  • The motion passed.

Parks and Recreation Board Responsibilities and Duties

  • Steve Gilbert provided a brief update on board responsibilities and duties and answered questions from the board.

Sidewalk and Trail Connectivity Plan

  • Robert Highfield provided a presentation regarding the Sidewalk and Trail Connectivity Plan and answered questions from the board.

Celebrate Fate 2024 Update

  • Ashley Martin provided a brief update on Celebrate Fate 2024 and answered questions from the board.

Joe Burger Park Update

  • Ashley Martin provided a brief update regarding Joe Burger Park and answered questions from the board.

Adjournment

  • Barry Brafman moved to adjourn the meeting.
  • Michelle Dominique seconded the motion.
  • Vote:
    • Ayes: Chairman King; Board Members Dominique, Brafman, Ijagbemi, Strobel, and Rauwolf
    • Nays: None
  • The meeting was adjourned at 7:14 p.m.
